“I’ve always believed that strong communities are built when people support one another.”

“By focusing on youth homelessness and broader youth development, we can deliver tailored and effective programs that truly make a difference.”

With over 30 years of executive leadership in infrastructure strategy, development, and operations, Tony has spent his career delivering innovative solutions that strengthen communities.

As a member of the Home Base Board, he channels that experience into ending youth homelessness and empowering Tasmanian youth.

“I’ve always believed that strong communities are built when people support one another,” Tony said.

“That’s what drew me to Home Base – an organisation making a real difference in young people’s lives.”

Beyond his corporate expertise in strategy, operations, and financial management, Tony has long been a mentor and advocate for local sports.

He supports junior and senior sporting organisations, helping young people develop teamwork, leadership, and resilience.

He’s also contributed to the development of sporting facilities that not only improve performance but bring communities together.

“Sport gives kids an outlet, a sense of belonging, and the chance to learn skills that last a lifetime,” Tony explained.

“I’ve seen first-hand how these opportunities can change lives, which is why I’m committed to doing more through Home Base.”

Tony believes the organisation’s youth focus is its greatest strength.

“Home Base targets its support where it’s needed most,” he said.

“By focusing on youth homelessness and broader youth development, the organisation can deliver tailored and effective programs that truly make a difference.”

During his onboarding, Tony was deeply moved by what he witnessed.

At the Moonah centre, I met nine children, only twelve years old, being cared for by Home Base because their parents couldn’t provide adequate support.

It was heartbreaking, but it also showed me the incredible dedication of the staff. They truly care, and they make a real impact every day.

“The management team is outstanding,” he said.

“With such diverse skills and a shared commitment to young people, they provide the foundation for a stronger future for Tasmanian youth.”
