Everyone deserves a safe and stable home, but in Tasmania, that’s not the reality for far too many young people.

In Tasmania, young people aged under 25 make up a staggering 43% of all people experiencing homelessness.

From 2023 to 2024, more than 1,500 children aged just 8 to 17 presented alone to specialist homelessness services for support, however it is still an invisible issue.  These numbers do not capture the hundreds of children who did not present to services, those who stayed in alternative arrangements including couch surfing, on the streets and in improvised dwellings.

These are not just numbers; they’re real people. They’re children. They're the next generation and they need our help.

We already know what works:

  • Safe and stable housing;

  • Early intervention programs that prevent young people entering the homelessness system;

  • And youth focused support services that help young people recover from trauma, develop life skills and reach their full potential.

which is why we’re working in these areas

We meet young people where they are.

In schools, at home, in other safe spaces and we listen and work together to plan the right supports, as everyone’s situation is different.

Our programs are co-designed and provide young Tasmanians with the life skills they need to transition into adulthood across a range of areas, including housing, living skills, health and wellbeing, education and learning.

We help young people and families nurture healthy relationships, build resilience, foster a positive sense of self and help children and young people thrive despite adversity. We engage with real talk, hands on learning and just leaning in to find solutions.

We exist to provide young Tasmanians with a safe, stable foundation to grow, dream and build their futures. And, with your help we can reach more young people and make large strides towards ending youth homelessness in Tassie!
