real respect. real strength.

Our ‘Merge’ program is designed for Grade 6 boys. It assists them in transitioning from Primary to Secondary school and moving from boyhood into adolescence.

The program contains one face to face session per week over two terms in a small group setting facilitated by Home Base in collaboration with school staff.

The program contains practical knowledge and useful information to assist boys to manage their emotions and identify avenues to connect with the people who are meaningful in their lives.

The content is designed to provide benefit for the whole family by encouraging healthy patterns of behaviour and improving their sense of self and how they communicate with others.

Merge assists young boys to explore the messages they may be receiving through social media about how they should behave in a relationship and the possible outcomes for them should they follow negative online influences.

“i learned a lot about relationships, like a real man talks about his feelings.”

“we learnt about sexist comments. i learnt a lot about this. like ‘throwing like a girl’.”

what young men will learn about:

Merge is a free program for boys delivered in primary schools, that explores gender roles and stereotypes. It looks at social interactions and how the messages boys receive about who they are ‘supposed’ to be can impact identity, relationships and life outcomes.

Merge provides participants with information and strategies and unites young people as they seek to fulfil their potential through safe and healthy relations.

Our team will educate and inform participants on:

  • Increasing safety and improving individual and relational life outcomes for all genders.

  • Identifying and addressing the impacting factors which may lead to intimate partner violence.

  • Assisting to resolve conflict while remaining nonviolent.

  • Improving confidence, self-worth and respect.

  • Regulating emotions and strengthening communication skills.
